如是我聞:一時佛在王舍城 迦蘭陀竹林


爾時尼瞿陀劫波比丘住彼第一曠野林中。而此 * 野中復有一林。時此比丘於彼遇病,尊者 * 婆耆供給彼病尼瞿陀劫波比丘。因此病故,即入涅槃。爾時尊者婆耆奢耶旬,供養和 * 上尼瞿陀劫波已,漸次遊行,至王舍城迦蘭陀竹林。時婆耆奢於其晨朝著衣持鉢,入王舍城乞食。乞食食已,洗鉢,收攝坐具,往詣佛所,整其衣服,合掌向佛,說偈問曰:

我今欲問佛    無量之解慧
現在斷疑惑    於曠野 * 城中
比丘入涅槃    生來有福德
守攝身口意    兼有大名聞
尼瞿陀劫賓    佛為作是名
佛為婆羅門    立如是名字

如是我聞:一時佛住王舍城迦蘭陀竹園。


時有尊者尼拘律想,住於曠野禽獸之處,疾病委篤。尊者婆耆舍為看病人,瞻視供養。彼尊者尼拘律想以疾病故,遂般涅槃。 時尊者婆耆舍作是念:

「我和上為有餘涅槃?無餘涅槃?我今當求其相。」

爾時尊者婆耆舍供養尊者尼拘律想舍利已,持衣鉢,向王舍城,次第到王舍城。舉衣鉢,洗足已,詣佛所,稽首禮足,退住一面,而說偈言:

我今禮大師    等正覺無滅
於此現法中    一切疑網斷
曠野住比丘    命終般涅槃
威儀攝諸根    大德稱於世
世尊為制名    名尼拘律想
我今問世尊    彼不動解脫
精進勤方便    功德為我說
我為釋迦種    世尊法弟子
及餘皆欲知    圓道眼所說
我等住於此    一切皆欲聞
世尊為大師    無上救世間
斷疑大牟尼    智慧已具備
圓照神道眼    光明顯四眾
猶如天帝釋    曜三十三天
諸貪欲疑惑    皆從無明起
若得遇如來    斷滅悉無餘
世尊神道眼    世間為最上
滅除眾生遇    如風飄遊塵
一切諸世間    煩惱覆隱沒
設餘悉無有    明目如佛者
慧光照一切    令同大精進
唯願大智尊    當為眾記說
言出微妙聲    我等專心聽
柔軟音演說    諸世間普聞
猶如熱渴逼    求索清涼水
如佛無減知    我等亦求知

尊者婆耆舍復說偈言:

今聞無上士    記說其功德
不空修梵行    我聞大歡喜
如說隨說得    順牟尼弟子
滅生死長縻    虛偽幻化縛
以見世尊故    能斷除諸愛
度生死彼岸    不復受諸有


佛說此經已,尊者婆耆舍聞佛所說,歡喜隨喜,作禮而去。

Nigrodhakappasuttaṃ

Evaṃ me sutaṃ– ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā āḷaviyaṃ viharati aggāḷave cetiye. Tena kho pana samayena āyasmato vaṅgīsassa upajjhāyo nigrodhakappo nāma thero aggāḷave cetiye aciraparinibbuto hoti. Atha kho āyasmato vaṅgīsassa rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi– “parinibbuto nu kho me upajjhāyo udāhu no parinibbuto”ti? Atha kho āyasmā vaṅgīso sāyanhasamayaṃ paṭisallānā vuṭṭhito yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho āyasmā vaṅgīso bhagavantaṃ etadavoca– “idha mayhaṃ, bhante, rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi– ‘parinibbuto nu kho me upajjhāyo, udāhu no parinabbuto”’ti. Atha kho āyasmā vaṅgīso uṭṭhāyāsanā ekaṃsaṃ cīvaraṃ katvā yena bhagavā tenañjaliṃ paṇāmetvā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi–

“Pucchāma [var] satthāramanomapaññaṃ, diṭṭheva dhamme yo vicikicchānaṃ chettā;
aggāḷave kālamakāsi bhikkhu, ñāto yasassī abhinibbutatto.
“Nigrodhakappo iti tassa nāmaṃ, tayā kataṃ bhagavā brāhmaṇassa;
so taṃ namassaṃ acari mutyapekkho, āraddhavīriyo daḷhadhammadassī.

“Taṃ sāvakaṃ sakya [var] mayampi sabbe, aññātumicchāma samantacakkhu;
samavaṭṭhitā no savanāya sotā, tuvaṃ no satthā tvamanuttarosi.
“Chindeva no vicikicchaṃ brūhi metaṃ, parinibbutaṃ vedaya bhūripañña;
majjheva [var] no bhāsa samantacakkhu, sakkova devāna sahassanetto.
“Ye keci ganthā idha mohamaggā, aññāṇapakkhā vicikicchaṭhānā;
tathāgataṃ patvā na te bhavanti, cakkhuñhi etaṃ paramaṃ narānaṃ.
“No ce hi jātu puriso kilese, vāto yathā abbhadhanaṃ vihāne;
tamovassa nivuto sabbaloko, na jotimantopi narā tapeyyuṃ.
“Dhīrā ca pajjotakarā bhavanti, taṃ taṃ ahaṃ vīra [var] tatheva maññe;
vipassinaṃ jānamupāgamumhā [var] , parisāsu no āvikarohi kappaṃ.
“Khippaṃ giraṃ eraya vaggu vagguṃ, haṃsova paggayha saṇikaṃ [var] nikūja;
bindussarena suvikappitena, sabbeva te ujjugatā suṇoma.
“Pahīnajātimaraṇaṃ asesaṃ, niggayha dhonaṃ [var] vadessāmi dhammaṃ;
na kāmakāro hi puthujjanānaṃ, saṅkheyyakāro ca [var] tathāgatānaṃ.
“Sampannaveyyākaraṇaṃ tavedaṃ, samujjupaññassa [var] samuggahītaṃ;
ayamañjalī pacchimo suppaṇāmito, mā mohayī jānamanomapañña.
“Parovaraṃ [var] ariyadhammaṃ viditvā, mā mohayī jānamanomavīra;
vāriṃ yathā ghammani ghammatatto, vācābhikaṅkhāmi sutaṃ pavassa [var] .
“Yadatthikaṃ [var] brahmacariyaṃ acarī, kappāyano kaccissa taṃ amoghaṃ;
nibbāyi so ādu sa-upādiseso, yathā vimutto ahu taṃ suṇoma”.
“Acchecchi [var] taṇhaṃ idha nāmarūpe, [var]
kaṇhassa [var] sotaṃ dīgharattānusayitaṃ;
atāri jātiṃ maraṇaṃ asesaṃ,”
iccabravī bhagavā pañcaseṭṭho.
“Esa sutvā pasīdāmi, vaco te isisattama;
amoghaṃ kira me puṭṭhaṃ, na maṃ vañcesi brāhmaṇo.
“Yathāvādī tathākārī, ahu buddhassa sāvako;
acchidā maccuno jālaṃ, tataṃ māyāvino daḷhaṃ.
“Addasā bhagavā ādiṃ, upādānassa kappiyo;
accagā vata kappāyano, maccudheyyaṃ suduttaran”ti.
