This file has been created in the project "A Digital Comparative Edition of the Bieyi za ahan jing" conducted at the Chung-hwa Institute for Buddhist Studies 中華佛學研究所 and the Dharma Drum Buddhist College 法鼓佛教研修學院. The project is funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange 蔣經國國際學術交流基金會. The aim of the project is to produce a comparative digital edition and partial translation of the 364 sutras of the BZA and their parallels. The texts are kept in single files in an eXist database and are realized via XQuery and XSLT as HTML for the online user. The project lasts from 2005-2008. 如是我聞：一時佛在白山。

爾時尊者象護為佛侍者。於時世尊夜中經行，天降微雨，電光晃曜。時天帝釋即便化作琉璃寶堂，以覆佛上，作是事已，來詣佛所，頂禮佛足。如來經行，猶未休止。時彼國人若小兒啼泣，不時止者，輒以薄俱羅鬼而以恐之。然諸佛常法，師不入室，弟子不得在前入房而先眠睡。爾時象護作是心念：

今夜既久，世尊不 眠 睡 眠。我當作薄俱羅鬼，恐其令眠！

作斯念已，尋便 反 返 反 被 披 被俱執，至經行道頭，而語佛言：

沙門！沙門！薄俱羅鬼來！

爾時佛告象護：

汝甚愚癡，以薄俱羅鬼恐怖於我！汝寧不知如來久斷驚懼毛竪一切畏耶？

時釋提桓因見聞是已，白佛言：

世尊！佛法之中亦有如是出家人也？

佛告天帝：

憍尸迦！瞿曇種姓極為寬廓，多所容納。如是之人，不久亦當得清淨法。

爾時世尊即說偈言：

若於自己法具行婆羅門 到于彼岸者盡諸 有結 結有 有結漏 若於自己法具行婆羅門 名到于彼岸觀諸受滅沒 若於自己法具行婆羅門 到于彼岸者觀因之盡沒 若於自己法具行婆羅門 能度 于彼岸 彼岸者 于彼岸觀結使寂滅 若於自己法具行婆羅門 度于彼岸者觀生老病死 若於自己法具行婆羅門 度于彼岸者能度毘舍闍 薄俱羅彼岸

爾時帝釋聞佛所說，歡喜頂禮，還于天宮。
