如是我聞:一時佛在舍衛國 祇樹給孤獨園


爾時尊者摩訶迦葉住舍衛國西園林中毘舍佉講堂。彼大迦葉於日沒時從禪定起,往詣佛所,頂禮佛足,在一面坐,而白佛言:

「世尊!以何因緣如來初始制戒之時極為尠少,修行者多?今日何故制戒轉增,履行者少?」

佛告迦葉:

「如是,如是,眾生命濁、結使濁、眾生濁、劫濁、見濁。眾生轉惡,正法亦 * 末。是故如來為諸弟子多制禁戒,少有比丘能順佛語,受持禁戒。諸眾生等漸漸退沒。譬如金寶,漸漸損減,至相似金出。如來正法亦復如是,漸漸損減,像法乃出。像法出故,正法滅沒。迦葉!當知:譬如海中所有船舫,多載眾寶,船必沈沒。如來教法亦復如是,以漸滅沒。如來正法不因地沒,亦非水、火、風之所壞。若我法中生於惡欲,行惡威儀,成就眾惡,法言非法,非法言法;非是 * 毘尼說言 * 毘尼;犯說非犯,非犯說犯;輕罪說重,重罪說輕,如斯之事出於世者,皆由像法句味相似,令佛正法漸漸滅沒。迦葉!當知:有五因緣,能令法滅,一切咸共忘失章句,善法退轉。何等為五?不恭敬佛、不尊重佛、不供養佛、不能至心歸命於佛,然復依止佛法而住。不敬法、不尊重法、不供養法,於正法中不能至心,然依法住。不恭敬戒、不尊重戒、不供養戒、不能至心持所受戒,然依戒住。不恭敬教授、不尊重教授、不供養教授、不能至 * 心向教授者,以不恭敬、尊重、供養,亦不至心向教授故,然復依此教授而住。於同梵行──佛所讚者──不恭敬、不尊重、不供養、不能至心禮拜問訊,然猶依彼而得安住。迦葉!以此上來五因緣故,能令正法漸漸滅沒,衰退忘失。迦葉!復有五因緣故,能令正法久住於世,不沒不退,不忘不失。何等為五?恭敬世尊、尊重於佛、供養於佛,常能至心歸依於佛。於法、於戒及以教授、同梵行者亦應供養、恭敬、尊重、至心向之。以此五種善因緣故,能使正法久住於世,不沒不退,不忘不失。以是義故,應當恭敬佛、法、教 * 授、同梵行者。」


諸比丘等聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。

爾時尊者摩訶迦葉住舍衛國東園鹿子母講堂,晡時從禪覺,往詣佛所,稽首禮足,退坐一面,白佛言:

「世尊!何因何緣,世尊先為諸聲聞少制戒時,多有比丘心樂習學;今多為聲聞制戒,而諸比丘少樂習學?」

佛言:

「如是,迦葉!命濁、煩惱濁、劫濁、眾生濁、見濁,眾生善法退減故,大師為諸聲聞多制禁戒,少樂習學。迦葉!譬如劫欲壞時,真寶未滅,有諸相似偽寶,出於世間。偽寶出已,真寶則沒。如是,迦葉!如來正法欲滅之時,有相似像法生。相似像法出世間已,正法則滅。譬如大海中船,載多珍寶,則頓沈沒。如來正法則不如是,漸漸消滅。 如來正法不為地界所壞,不為水、火、風界所壞,……(乃至)惡眾生出世,樂行諸惡,欲行諸惡,成就諸惡;非法言法,法言非法;非律言律,律言非律;以相似法句味熾然,如來正法於此則沒。 迦葉!有五因緣能令如來正法沈沒。何等為五?若比丘於大師所不敬不重,不下意供養。於大師所不敬不重,不下意供養已,然復依猗而住。若法、若學、若隨順教、若諸梵行──大師所稱歎者──不敬不重,不下意供養,而依止住。是名──迦葉!──五因緣故,如來正法於此沈沒。 迦葉!有五因緣令如來法、律不沒、不忘、不退。何等為五?若比丘於大師所恭敬尊重,下意供養,依止而住。若法、若學、若隨順教、若諸梵行──大師所稱歎者──恭敬尊重,下意供養,依止而住。迦葉!是名五因緣如來法、律不沒、不忘、不退。是故──迦葉!──當如是學!於大師所當修恭敬尊重,下意供養,依止而住。若法、若學、若隨順教、若諸梵行──大師所讚歎者──恭敬尊重,下意供養,依止而住。」


佛說是經已,尊者摩訶迦葉歡喜隨喜,作禮而去。

Saddhammappatirūpakasuttaṃ

Evaṃ me sutaṃ– ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.

Atha kho āyasmā mahākassapo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho āyasmā mahākassapo bhagavantaṃ etadavoca–

“ko nu kho, bhante, hetu ko paccayo, yena pubbe appatarāni ceva sikkhāpadāni ahesuṃ bahutarā ca bhikkhū aññāya saṇṭhahiṃsu? Ko pana, bhante, hetu ko paccayo, yenetarahi bahutarāni ceva sikkhāpadāni appatarā ca bhikkhū aññāya saṇṭhahantī”ti? “Evañcetaṃ, kassapa, hoti sattesu hāyamānesu saddhamme antaradhāyamāne, bahutarāni ceva sikkhāpadāni honti appatarā ca bhikkhū aññāya saṇṭhahanti. Na tāva, kassapa, saddhammassa antaradhānaṃ hoti yāva na saddhammappatirūpakaṃ loke uppajjati. Yato ca kho, kassapa, saddhammappatirūpakaṃ loke uppajjati, atha saddhammassa antaradhānaṃ hoti”.

“Seyyathāpi, kassapa, na tāva jātarūpassa antaradhānaṃ hoti yāva na jātarūpappatirūpakaṃ loke uppajjati. Yato ca kho, kassapa, jātarūpappatirūpakaṃ loke uppajjati, atha jātarūpassa antaradhānaṃ hoti. Evameva kho, kassapa, na tāva saddhammassa antaradhānaṃ hoti yāva na saddhammappatirūpakaṃ loke uppajjati. Yato ca kho, kassapa, saddhammappatirūpakaṃ loke uppajjati, atha saddhammassa antaradhānaṃ hoti.

“Na kho, kassapa, pathavīdhātu saddhammaṃ antaradhāpeti, na āpodhātu saddhammaṃ antaradhāpeti, na tejodhātu saddhammaṃ antaradhāpeti, na vāyodhātu saddhammaṃ antaradhāpeti; atha kho idheva te uppajjanti moghapurisā ye imaṃ saddhammaṃ antaradhāpenti. Seyyathāpi, kassapa, nāvā ādikeneva opilavati; na kho, kassapa, evaṃ saddhammassa antaradhānaṃ hoti.

“Pañca khome, kassapa, okkamaniyā dhammā saddhammassa sammosāya antaradhānāya saṃvattanti. Katame pañca? Idha, kassapa, bhikkhū bhikkhuniyo upāsakā upāsikāyo satthari agāravā viharanti appatissā, dhamme agāravā viharanti appatissā, saṅghe agāravā viharanti appatissā, sikkhāya agāravā viharanti appatissā, samādhismiṃ agāravā viharanti appatissā– ime kho, kassapa, pañca okkamaniyā dhammā saddhammassa sammosāya antaradhānāya saṃvattanti.

“Pañca khome, kassapa, dhammā saddhammassa ṭhitiyā asammosāya anantaradhānāya saṃvattanti. Katame pañca? Idha, kassapa, bhikkhū bhikkhuniyo upāsakā upāsikāyo satthari sagāravā viharanti sappatissā, dhamme sagāravā viharanti sappatissā, saṅghe sagāravā viharanti sappatissā, sikkhāya sagāravā viharanti sappatissā, samādhismiṃ sagāravā viharanti sappatissā– ime kho, kassapa, pañca dhammā saddhammassa ṭhitiyā asammosāya anantaradhānāya saṃvattantī”ti.
