爾時尊者僧提迦旃延那提城 群寔迦所住之處。


爾時犢子梵志以緣事故,往詣彼城。既至彼已,營事已訖,即便往彼尊者僧提迦旃延所,相問訊已,在一面坐,白尊者言:

「我有所疑,欲相諮問。汝若閑裕,聽我所問。願為解說!」

尊者告言:

「犢子!我聽汝問,然後乃知。」

犢子問言:

「以何 * 因緣故,諸餘沙門、婆羅門有人來問:『死此生彼;死此不生彼,……(乃至)非生彼,非非生彼。』悉皆能答;沙門瞿曇為以此問:『色死此生彼,……(乃至)非生彼,非非生彼。』無義理故,置不答乎?」

尊者告言:

「我今問汝,隨汝所解,而答於我。於汝意云何:若因若緣,若行若根本,若行所從生,若色若無色,若有想若無想,以此因、以此緣、以此行、以此根本、以此行所從生,無餘寂滅,無想盡處,若如是等無有因緣,無行無相及盡滅法,如來寧可說死此生彼,……(乃至)說非生彼,非非生彼耶?」

犢子言:

「迦旃延!如是因,如是緣,如是行,如是根本,如是行所從生,是色是無色,是想是無想,此等諸法皆至無餘盡滅,無想滅盡。是等諸法無有因緣,如來云何而當說之?」

犢子聞已,心懷歡喜,問尊者言:

「汝為佛弟子,從來久近?」

尊者答言:

「我為佛弟子,始過三年。」

犢子言:

「迦旃延!汝獲大利,能於眾中身、口智慧辯才如是。於少時中能具斯事,實為希有!」

犢子言:

「我今緣事,欲還所止。」

尊者言:

「宜知是時。」


犢子梵志聞尊者語,歡喜而去。

爾時,婆蹉種出家有諸因緣至那梨聚落。營事訖已,詣尊者詵陀迦旃延所,共相問訊,問訊已,退住一面,問詵陀迦旃延:

「何因、何緣沙門瞿曇若有來問『如來有後死、無後死、有無後死、非有非無後死』,不為記說?」

詵陀迦旃延語婆蹉種出家:

「我今問汝,隨意答我。於汝意云何?若因、若緣,若行身施,若色、若無色,若想、若非想、若非想非非想,若彼因、彼緣、彼行無餘行滅。永滅已,如來於彼有所記說,言: 『有後死、無後死、有無後死、非有非無後死』 耶?」

婆蹉種出家語詵陀迦旃延:

「若因、若緣,若種施設諸行,若色、若非色,若想、若非想、若非想非非想,彼因、彼緣、彼行無餘滅。云何瞿曇於彼記說 『如來有後死、無後死、有無後死、非有非無後死』 ?」

詵陀迦旃延語婆蹉種出家:

「是故如來以是因、以是緣故,有問如來『有後死、無後死、有無後死、非有非無後死』,不為記說。」

婆蹉種出家問詵陀迦旃延:

「汝於沙門瞿曇弟子,為日久如?」

詵陀迦旃延答言:

「少過三年,於正法、律出家修梵行。」

婆蹉種出家言:

「詵陀迦旃延!快得善利,少時出家而得如是身律儀、口律儀,又得如是智慧辯才。」


時婆蹉種出家聞詵陀迦旃延所說,歡喜隨喜,從坐起去!

Sabhiyakaccānasuttaṃ

Ekaṃ samayaṃ āyasmā sabhiyo kaccāno ñātike viharati giñjakāvasathe. Atha kho vacchagotto paribbājako yenāyasmā sabhiyo kaccāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmatā sabhiyena kaccānena saddhiṃ sammodi. Sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho vacchagotto paribbājako āyasmantaṃ sabhiyaṃ kaccānaṃ etadavoca– “kiṃ nu kho bho, kaccāna, hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”ti? “Abyākataṃ kho etaṃ, vaccha, bhagavatā– ‘hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”’ti. “Kiṃ pana, bho kaccāna, na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”ti? “Etampi kho, vaccha, abyākataṃ bhagavatā– ‘na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”’ti.

“Kiṃ nu kho, bho kaccāna, hoti ca na ca hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”ti? “Abyākataṃ kho etaṃ, vaccha, bhagavatā– ‘hoti ca na ca hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”’ti. “Kiṃ pana, bho kaccāna, neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”ti? “Etampi kho, vaccha, abyākataṃ bhagavatā– ‘neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā”’ti.

“‘Kiṃ nu kho, bho kaccāna, hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti, iti puṭṭho samāno– ‘abyākataṃ kho etaṃ, vaccha, bhagavatā– hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti vadesi ‘Kiṃ pana, bho kaccāna, na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti, iti puṭṭho samāno– ‘abyākataṃ kho etaṃ, vaccha, bhagavatā– na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti vadesi. ‘Kiṃ nu kho, bho kaccāna, hoti ca na ca hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti, iti puṭṭho samāno– ‘abyākataṃ kho etaṃ, vaccha bhagavatā– hoti ca na ca hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti vadesi. ‘Kiṃ pana, bho kaccāna, neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti, iti puṭṭho samāno– ‘etampi kho, vaccha, abyākataṃ bhagavatā– neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraṃ maraṇā’ti vadesi. Ko nu kho, bho kaccāna, hetu, ko paccayo, yenetaṃ abyākataṃ samaṇena gotamenā”ti? “Yo ca, vaccha, hetu, yo ca paccayo paññāpanāya rūpīti vā arūpīti vā saññīti vā asaññīti vā nevasaññīnāsaññīti vā, so ca hetu, so ca paccayo sabbena sabbaṃ sabbathā sabbaṃ aparisesaṃ nirujjheyya. Kena naṃ paññāpayamāno paññāpeyya rūpīti vā arūpīti vā saññīti vā asaññīti vā nevasaññīnāsaññīti vā”ti. “Kīvaciraṃ pabbajitosi, bho kaccānā”ti? “Naciraṃ, āvuso, tīṇi vassānī”ti. “Yassapa’ssa, āvuso, etamettakena ettakameva taṃpa’ssa bahu, ko pana vādo evaṃ [var] abhikkante”ti!
